New Two Congregations in AlbertaSeptember,10 2015
Caring for the church of God and its members, His Eminence Archbishop Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan, paid pastoral visit to both cities Calgary and Edmonton congregations establishing communities there.
In Edmonton, on Saturday September 5th, His Eminence celebrated the Divine Liturgy, assisted by Rev. Fr. George Yousif Al Banna. During the Liturgy his Eminence ordained a number of deacons and deaconesses to serve the altar of God. The Archbishop in his sermon called the name of the new established church, St. Peter and St. Paul of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
In Calgary, on Sunday September 6th, His Eminence Mor Clemis Eugene celebrated the Divine Liturgy assisted by the Rev. Fr. George Al Banna, again during the Liturgy ordained a number of deacons and deaconesses. The Archbishop during his sermon has given the name of Emmanuel to the Calgary congregation, and thus established the Emmanuel Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch of Calgary, and has blessed the newly established churches in Alberta, thanking Rev. Fr. Dr. George Al-Banna who is serving both churches.
In Edmonton, his Eminence ordained 8 deacons and deaconesses, whereas in Calgary he ordained 17 deacons and deaconesses. Congratulations and God bless.
The Western Archdiocese of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch,
providing spiritual guidance and leadership to the Syriac Orthodox
community, is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization
comprised of 18 churches and parishes in 17 western states. It was
established in 1952 as the Archdiocese of the Syrian Orthodox Church
encompassing the entire United States and Canada. In November 1995 by
the Holy Synod, the Western Archdiocese was formed to exclusively
serve the 17 states of the western half United States.
