Forming a New “Virgin Mary of the Holy Belt” Church in VenturaSeptember,1 2016
On Tuesday, August 30, 2016, His Eminence Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan, to bring together our Syrian community families in Ventura County, has met with some Syrian Christian Community members of that area, at 6500 Telephone Rd., Ventura CA 93003 (Ventura Village Green Hall). During the meeting, the attendant community members decided to have their own locally church in Ventura County. His Eminence the Archbishop gave the new formed community in Ventura the name: Virgin Mary of the Holy Belt (Um Al-Zunar) Church, Ventura.
After the meeting, some of the attendees volunteered to incorporate themselves into a temporary committee until an official parish Council be formed. The next meeting will be held on September 14, 2016 at 6:00 pm at the same location, to discuss the details about how to run the church Ventura, to form organizations and to prepare for the first Divine Liturgy etc...

community, is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization
comprised of 18 churches and parishes in 17 western states. It was
established in 1952 as the Archdiocese of the Syrian Orthodox Church
encompassing the entire United States and Canada. In November 1995 by
the Holy Synod, the Western Archdiocese was formed to exclusively
