Oriental Orthodox Church Leaders Meeting

November,23 2016

Spiritual leaders of the Syriac Orthodox, Coptic Orthodox and Armenian Apostolic Churches met on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at Holy Martyrs Armenian Church in Encino.

Following a prayer service, the leaders of the churches and appointed planning committee members, discussed the organization of a joint prayer service on September 14, 2017 for the “Martyrs Day Celebration” the Christians martyrs of the Middle East.

The spiritual leaders in attendance were H. E. Archbishop Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan of the Syriac Orthodox Church, H.E. Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, and H. E. Archbishop Serapion of the Coptic Orthodox Church.

His Eminence Mor Clemis accompanied by Rev. Fr. Gabriel Hanna, the priest of the St. Ephraim Cathedral, also participated in the meeting.

The Western Archdiocese of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch, providing spiritual guidance and leadership to the Syriac Orthodox community, is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization comprised of 18 churches and parishes in 17 western states. It was established in 1952 as the Archdiocese of the Syrian Orthodox Church encompassing the entire United States and Canada. In November 1995 by the Holy Synod, the Western Archdiocese was formed to exclusively serve the 17 states of the western half United States.
