SYG-USA held in San Diego

July,10 2019

By the efforts of the SYG-USA Planning Committee members: Christopher Moussa, Irin Simon, Mary Bahhi, Nadine Allo, Sandra Sado, Steven Talia, Tanya Ibrahim. The youth of St. Paul Church, the Suryoyo Youth Gathering (SYG-USA) was held in San Diego, California, on July 4th – 7th, 2019.

The SYG-USA theme was: “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2). with eagerness and enthusiasm for their spiritual benefit, growth, strengthen faith, and the advancement of our Holy Church in the USA by working together for the progress of our Holy Church, our youth gathered in San Diego from all over our USA Eastern and Western Archdiocese, to be transformed to the image of our Lord Jesus Christ and live the fullness of the Christian acting faith as well enjoyed outdoor social activities.

The SYG-USA gathering concluded by the Divine Liturgy celebrated on Sunday, July 7th, by their Eminences Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan, Archbishop of the Western USA, Mor Dionysius John Kawak, Archbishop of the Eastern USA, Mor Anthimos Jack Yakoub, Archbishop of the youth affairs and religious education department, Patriarchate, at St. Paul Church in Santee, California. In the presence of the Clergy, Deacons, faithful, and all the SYGG participants.

We want to congratulate and take this opportunity to express our thanks to the SYG-USA Youth Gathering Planning Committee for so capably hosting this Annual Gathering. We humbly ask God to richly bless them and all participants of this gathering which was crowned with success and fruitful results.

The Western Archdiocese of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch, providing spiritual guidance and leadership to the Syriac Orthodox community, is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization comprised of 18 churches and parishes in 17 western states. It was established in 1952 as the Archdiocese of the Syrian Orthodox Church encompassing the entire United States and Canada. In November 1995 by the Holy Synod, the Western Archdiocese was formed to exclusively serve the 17 states of the western half United States.
