Where is the Holy Synod of the Syriac Orthodox Church?September,26 2019Black Day for Syriac Orthodox Church in India.
93-year-old Catholicose consecrated by the Throne of Syriac Orthodox Church, along with more than 20 Bishops has been arrested from a church in Kerala, the southern state of India, while they were conducting holy Divine Liturgy, inside the church.
This tragic incident happened due to court order obtained by the dissident faction of church. Two thousand five hundred (2500) families belonging to this church has been expelled out by the police to permit less than 100 dissident members to enter the church.
More than 30 churches have been closed or captured by the dissident faction based on this court order. This faction not allowing the Syriac Orthodox faithful (Jacobite Christians) to perform their holy church services or funerals in the cemetery where their forefathers had been buried.

The Western Archdiocese of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch,
providing spiritual guidance and leadership to the Syriac Orthodox
community, is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization
comprised of 18 churches and parishes in 17 western states. It was
established in 1952 as the Archdiocese of the Syrian Orthodox Church
encompassing the entire United States and Canada. In November 1995 by
the Holy Synod, the Western Archdiocese was formed to exclusively
serve the 17 states of the western half United States.
