True peace only comes from the Prince of Peace.

Peace does not mean that everything around you is calm and tranquil; true peace means that you are able to remain peaceful during the storms of life.

But this peace, which the Bible promises is available to believers, can only come from God. Jesus said, "I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace" (John 16:33). In other words, Jesus came so that you could have peace.

St. Paul the apostle tells us, in Philippians 4:6-7, that we can have peace if we don't become anxious about life but instead give our worries to God: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Hand over all of your problems to the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ, and He will give you a peace that passes understanding -- a peace that is beyond comprehension.

The first Adam was a man who tried to play God; the second Adam was God who became man.


Stability is the mark of a mature Christian.
God has given us peace so that we can be stable even in the midst of hard times. In John 14:27, Jesus says, "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives."

In this verse, Jesus tells us that He has left us His peace. Jesus' peace, however, isn't like the world's peace, which depends on your circumstances; rather, God's peace is internal. God's peace allows believers to be stable even in the midst of hard circumstances, difficult trials, and uncertain times.

It's no wonder St. Paul said that he could be content, i.e. stable, in all circumstances: "I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want." (Philippians 4:11-12). What was St. Paul's "secret"? "I can do everything through Him who gives me strength" (Philippians 4:13).

The key to contentment and stability is living in, through, and with God in everything. Like St. Paul, a mature Christian is able to remain content and stable in all circumstances.
