Dearly Beloved Clergy, Parish Councils, Organizations, and respected Faithful of the Western Archdiocese of USA

The leaf from the old times of 2019 has fallen on the first day of 2020. Instead of a brand-new leaf announcing the new year.

This young leaf will grow with time, get old and fall the same as its preceding when its time comes. It will enter the book of history and will no more be beneficial except for memory.

This how time passes year after year with many controversies. Humans become weary of juggling between hope and despair, ambition and laziness, health and sickness, happiness and sadness . . .

After this brutal fight between humans and time, time will be victorious and a chapter from their life and memory will only be left for the upcoming generation.

We welcome this new year with our hearts full of hope that it will bring us goodwill, happiness, peace, and triumph.

Yes indeed, 2019 has fallen from the time's registry and is replaced by 2020 which is now sitting on the history's throne. And will open a new page from its numerous and mysterious pages.

The world asks with fear and worry: What will the new year bring?

Would its days be prosperous and shiny as spring's sun bringing warmth with green nature and olive branches.

Or it will be the same as the last year which was full of cold and severe Arabic spring, with brutal massacres of ISIS in the whole world and especially in the Middle East.

As believers, Christ Jesus is our path which we walk through, We will not fear anything because we know that our future is in His hands...

He is our truth that we believe in, our life that we live by. He is our shepherd to green pastures and to restful waters (Psalm 2:23) He is our bread which nourishes us, life's water we quench our thirst with. He is the glory of the Heavenly Father. He is our redeemer who saved us and forgave all our sins. We draw every effort and power from Him which helps us to live a sanctified life.

He is the incarnated love of the Father. It is a bright love written by the hand of the Father in our life's history, defeating our hateful world in which we were buried.

We ask the Almighty God, to make this new year a transformation point to change the disastrous situations into happy occasions, that peace and love prevail, hatred vanquished, and normal and joyful life spread all over with hearts full of cheers and blessings.

Our prayers and wishes to have a great new year full of fruits of love, peace of mind and sound health.

Tomorrow we’ll enter a new year and open a new white page of life. We pray that our almighty and good God protect you and be with you day and night. Keeping you, your family and all your loved ones safe and success.

الزمن والانسان
في اليوم الأول من عام 2020 سقطت ورقة عام 2019 من شجرة الزمن الهرمة، ونبتت مكانها ورقة يانعة تبشر بحلول سنة جديدة.

هذه الورقة الغضة ستكبر مع الأيام وتهرم ثم تسقط كسابقاتها بعد انقضاء أجلها وتدخل في سفر التاريخ فلا تعود تصلح إلا للذكرى.

هكذا يدور الزمن عاماً يتلوه عام حاملاً في جعبته شتى المتناقضات، ويتأرجح الانسان في هذا الخضم المتلاطم بين الأمل واليأس، والطموح والتخاذل، والصحة والمرض، والفرح والترح..

وبعد هذا الصراع العنيف الذي يدور بين الانسان والزمن وتصبح الغلبة للثاني، فيطوي ورقة جديدة من سجل حياة الانسان ولا يبقى للأجيال المقبلة منه سوى الذكرى..

إننا نستقبل هذا العام الجديد وفي أعماق قلوبنا الآمال العراض بأن يحمل لنا الخير والفرح والسلام والنصر على الشر..

أجل، سقط عام 2019 من سجل الزمن وحلّ مكانه العام الجديد 2020 وتربع على عرش التاريخ، ليفتح صفحة جديدة من صفحاته المتعددة المبهمة ...

يتساءل العالم في توجس وقلق وخوف ترى ماذا يخبئ لنا هذا العام في طياته من شؤون وشجون؟...

أتكون أيامه زاهرة ومشرقة كشمس الربيع، تحمل الى الناس الدفء وبشائر الفرح وأغصان الزيتون واخضرار الطبيعة..

أم أنه سيحذو حذو خلفه العام الراحل الذي حفلت أيامه بصقيع الربيع العربي القارس، والدور الداعشي الحافل بالمجازر الدامية ونحن بعد تحت تأثيره، والكوارث الرهيبة المفجعة في العالم أجمع عامة والشرق الأوسط خاصة ..

بالنسبة لنا نحن المؤمنون فالمسيح يسوع هو طريقنا الذي نمشي فيه، فلا نخاف من مستقبلنا لأننا نعرف أنه بيد الله ..

هو حقنا ونحن نعتنقه، هو حياتنا ونحن نحيا به، هو راعينا، الى مراع خضر يربضنا، والى مياه الراحة يوردنا (مز 23: 2)، هو خبزنا ونحن به نتغذى، هو ماء الحياة وبه نطفئ ظمأنا، هو بهاء مجد الآب السماوي ورسم جوهره، هو فادينا يخلصنا من كل إثم، ونحن نستمد منه كل قوة تعيننا على حياة القداسة.

وهو محبة الآب المتجسدة، والمحبة كلمة من نور إذ كتبتها يد الآب في صفحة تاريخنا، داحقاً من عالمنا الحاقد الذي كنا نحن له قبراً.

نسأله تعالى أن يجعل هذا العام نقطة التحول الى تغيير الأحوال المأسوية الى مسرات فيحل السلام والوئام والمحبة وأن يخمد هذا الغليان الطاغي في النفوس، فتعود الحياة الطبيعية، هادئة هانئة، ويعمّ الخير وتعمر القلوب من جديد بالسعادة والهناء، متضرعين الى الرب مع كل امنياتنا لتكون السنة القادمة سنةً مليئةً بثمار المحبة وراحة البال والصحة التامة والعافية.

أجل، سندخل غداً سنة جديدة ونفتح صفحة جديدة من حياتنا، فنصلي للرب ليحفظكم من كل أذية وليكون معكم في كل مراحل حياتكم ليلاً نهاراً، يرافق مسيرتكم العائلية وكل محبيكم بأمان ونجاح.

وكل عام وأنتم بألف خير
