Oriental Orthodox Churches Council Convenes Meeting at the Armenian Western Diocese March,4 2022Spiritual leaders of the Armenian Apostolic, Coptic Orthodox, and Syriac Orthodox Churches met on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at the Hampar Family Room of the Armenian Western Diocese.
The spiritual leaders and clergy were greeted at the entrance of the building by the Primate and Diocesan clergy.
The spiritual leaders in attendance were H.E. Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, of the Armenian. H.E. Metropolitan Serapion, of the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Los Angeles, Southern California, and Hawaii and Metropolitan H. E. Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan, Patriarchal Vicar of the Syriac Archdiocese of the Western United States. Priests of the respective Churches accompanied the leaders.
Archbishop Hovnan Derderian welcomed his brothers in Christ and formally introduced his esteemed guests following an opening prayer. The leaders discussed participating in joint collaborative events involving the joint Clergy Divine Liturgy, which will be held on June 16, 2022, Sunday Schools, Youth-related missions, and religious services.
Following a group photo in the Cathedral’s Turpanjian courtyard, the clergy were treated to a reception.

The Western Archdiocese of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch,
providing spiritual guidance and leadership to the Syriac Orthodox
community, is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization
comprised of 18 churches and parishes in 17 western states. It was
established in 1952 as the Archdiocese of the Syrian Orthodox Church
encompassing the entire United States and Canada. In November 1995 by
the Holy Synod, the Western Archdiocese was formed to exclusively
serve the 17 states of the western half United States.
