Suryoyo Church Youth Gathering SYG Brings Together more than three hundred Inspirational Young Minds.July,20 2023In a vibrant display of unity, faith, and vitality, the Suryoyo Church Youth Gathering successfully convened over the weekend from 13 to 16 July, drawing many young believers from two Archdioceses of the United States. It was hosted by St. Ephraim Cathedral. The event took place in Burbank, CA, and aimed to inspire and empower the next generation of devout followers.
Under the theme "From Tiny Seed to a Great Harvest," the convention provided a dynamic platform for the youth to engage in meaningful discussions, share personal testimonies, and deepen their spiritual connections. The event featured diverse speakers and activities designed to foster personal growth, community service, and a strengthened sense of purpose.
Keynote speakers included renowned motivational and inspirational speakers prelates of our Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch, who addressed a wide range of topics, from embracing faith in a modern world to overcoming challenges faced by the youth today. Their powerful messages resonated deeply with attendees, encouraging them to become advocates for positive change in their communities.
Beyond the formal activities, the Suryoyo Church Youth Gathering created an atmosphere of camaraderie and joy. Participants engaged in group activities, formed lasting friendships and celebrated their shared devotion to faith through spirited worship sessions.
Speaking about the convention's success, Rev. Fr. Gabriel Hanna, the priest of St. Ephraim Cathedral, welcomed all who gathered for SYG, followed by an official opening speech addressed by His Eminence Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan, Metropolitan of the Western Archdiocese, expressed his gratitude, stating, "We are truly amazed and humbled by the overwhelming response to this year's Suryoyo Youth Gathering. Witnessing so many young hearts filled with zeal and faith reaffirms our belief in the power of the next generation to create a more compassionate and just world. Together, we have sparked a flame that will continue to burn brightly within each participant, igniting positive change wherever they go." In his speech also, he extended a warm and heartfelt welcome to everyone. Especially their Eminences saying, "Who honored and blessed us with their presence, His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak, Metropolitan of the Eastern Archdiocese, His Eminence Mor Antimos Jack, for the first time as Metropolitan of the Holy Land and Jordan, His Eminence Mor Andrew Bahhi, Also his first time attending this youth gathering as an Archbishop of the youth affairs, and Christian education, wish them all a great stay with this blessed gathering."
The Church Youth Gathering not only left attendees inspired and motivated but also left a lasting impact on the host community, fostering a spirit of service and love that will continue to thrive long after the event.
As the gathering came to a close, participants left with hearts full of hope, encouraged to spread the gathering's core message: to be the light in a world that seeks illumination and to find strength in unity, love, and faith. Plans for the next gathering are already in motion, promising an even more significant event to empower and uplift the youth in the years to come.
In conclusion, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the organizer team, volunteers, and sponsors who have dedicated their time and resources to make this church youth gathering SYG a reality, beloved Fr.
